SCIENTIFIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS

at the Faculty of Philosophy, in the Institute of Psychology within the project “Engaging the nature vs. nurture debate through the study of cognitive plasticity in blindness and deafness” funded by National Science Center, MAESTRO 10

According to the article 3.3 of Regulations for awarding NCN scholarships for NCN-funded research projects, the scholarship may be awarded to a person who meets any of the following criteria: is a student of a full-time first or second-cycle degree programme or uniform Master’s studies at a university in Poland

We invite to apply:

  • A student at master level in Kraków in the field of Psychology / Cognitive Science /Biology / Computer Science/ Engineering / Mathematics.
  • You have basic programming skills in any programming language (most preferably Matlab, Python) and are willing to develop your skills in this  area.
  • Some previous experience in neuropsychological data analysis.
  • Good spoken and written skills in English (C1) and you want to develop your scientific documentation skills in English.
  • Attention to details, you are able to work independently, you are self-motivated.

According to the article 3.12 of Regulations for awarding NCN scholarships for NCN-funded research projects following criteria are considered:

  • the candidate’s research achievements, including publications in prestigious academic press /journals (50% of the final score),
  • research-related achievements, scholarships, awards and research experience gained in Poland or abroad, research workshops and training courses, participation in research projects (20% of the final score),
  • the candidate’s competence to carry out specific tasks in the research project (30% of the final score).

Duties include:

  • Data curation and management
  • Quality control of brain segmentations
  • Carry out data analysis
  • Work must lead to a MSc thesis based on the above activities. It is strongly preferred that the thesis should be carried out under the supervision of Lena Stroh

2.   certificate of student status and year of study or a copy of the university diploma,

3.   CV including a list of publications, research experience and scientific interests

4.   Email contact to your science or professional mentor for possible reference letter of recommendation in English,

5.   signed information on the processing of personal data (attached to this announcement).

 

The deadline for application submission: February 29, 2024.

Selected candidates will be invited to an interview in English that would be held on: March 01,2024.

Summary of the project: 

Work on an exciting international collaboration between the SzwedLab and the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (MPI-CBS) in Leipzig, Germany.
