Institute of Psychology of the Jagiellonian University announces a call for SCIENTIFIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS at the Faculty of Philosophy, in the Institute of Psychology within the project “Engaging the nature vs. nurture debate through the study of cognitive plasticity in blindness and deafness” funded by National Science Center, MAESTRO 10

In accordance with regulations for awarding scientific scholarships in research projects financed from the funds of the national center of science, the NCN scientific scholarship may be awarded to a person who, at the time of commencement of the implementation of tasks in the project meets any of the following criteria:

a) is a student of full-time or part-time studies of the second degree, implemented at universities in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
b) is a student of at least the fourth year of full-time or part-time uniform master's degree studies realized in universities on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
c) is a doctoral student, a participant in doctoral studies conducted by an authorized organizational unit of a higher education institution, a scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences Academy of Sciences, a research institute or an international scientific institute operating on the territory of the Republic of Poland established under separate regulations.

We invite to apply:

  • A student at master level in Kraków in the field of Psychology / Cognitive Science

 /Biology / Computer Science/ Engineering / Mathematics.

  • You have basic programming skills in any programming language (most

preferably Matlab, Python) and are willing to develop your skills in this  area.

  • Some previous experience in neuropsychological data analysis.
  • Good spoken and written skills in English (C1) and you want to develop your

scientific documentation skills in English.

  • Attention to details, you are able to work independently, you are self-motivated

According to the article 3.14 of Regulations for awarding NCN scholarships for NCN-funded research projects following criteria are considered:

  • the candidate’s research achievements, including publications in prestigious academic press /journals (50% of the final score),
  • research-related achievements, scholarships, awards and research experience gained in Poland or abroad, research workshops and training courses, participation in research projects (20% of the final score),
  • the candidate’s competence to carry out specific tasks in the research project (30% of the final score).

Duties include:

  • Data curation and management
  • Quality control of brain segmentations
  • Carry out data analysis
  • Work must lead to a MSc thesis based on the above activities. It is strongly  preferred that the thesis should be carried out under the supervision of dr Lena Stroh
